Basketball Game Preview: St. Petersburg Catholic Barons vs. Out-of-Door Academy Thunder

St. Petersburg Catholic hasn't had much luck against Out-of-Door Academy recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The St. Petersburg Catholic Barons will venture away from home to face off against the Out-of-Door Academy Thunder at 6:00 p.m.

St. Petersburg Catholic is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They lost 84-63 to Indian Rocks Christian on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Barons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 653rd, while the Eagles are ranked 260th).

Meanwhile, Out-of-Door Academy won against Sarasota Christian on Tuesday with 52 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Out-of-Door Academy walked away with a 52-44 victory over Canterbury. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Thunder.

Out-of-Door Academy has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for St. Petersburg Catholic, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-17.

St. Petersburg Catholic took a serious blow against Out-of-Door Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2020, falling 59-31. Thankfully for St. Petersburg Catholic, Tyler Odonoghue (who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards) won't be suiting up this time.
