Baseball Game Preview: Port of Los Angeles Polar Bears vs. Chavez Eagles

The Port of Los Angeles Polar Bears will challenge the Chavez Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Port of Los Angeles sitting on six straight victories and Chavez on three.

Port of Los Angeles is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Sotomayor by a score of 7-3. That's two games straight that the Polar Bears have won by exactly four runs.

Steven Saenz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Joaquin Guerrero and Jonathan Rosette did most of the damage at the plate: Guerrero went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run, while Rosette went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Anthony Garcia, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Chavez earned a 7-4 win over Maywood CES on Tuesday.

Chavez's victory bumped their record up to 17-10. As for Port of Los Angeles, their win bumped their record up to 14-8.

Port of Los Angeles came up short against Chavez in their previous meeting back in February, falling 5-2. Can the Polar Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
