Baseball Recap: Spring Grove Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Spring Grove challenged Mabel-Canton on Thursday. The Lions fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 6-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-2 back in April.

This is the second loss in a row for Spring Grove and nudges their season record down to 8-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-3 Southland (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 58.5% over those games). As for Mabel-Canton, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-9.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Spring Grove will take on rival Houston at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Mabel-Canton is set to square off against their familiar foe Southland at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
