Basketball Game Preview: Trotwood-Madison Rams vs. Springfield Wildcats

The Trotwood-Madison Rams will square off against the Springfield Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Trotwood-Madison will be strutting in after a win while Springfield will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with eight losses in a row dating back to last season, Trotwood-Madison turned things around against Western Hills last Saturday. They blew past the Mustangs 47-17. The Rams' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Trotwood-Madison found their leader in sophomore Janiyah Boykin, who posted nine points and six steals. The dominant performance gave Boykin a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tierra Howard, who had eight points.

Trotwood-Madison was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Springfield was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 60-55 to Beavercreek.

Trotwood-Madison will need focus on slowing down Dayveona Boynton, one of several Springfield players who made an impact when they last played. She went 7 of 14 on her way to 16 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Boynton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jada Crockran, who put up ten points along with five assists and four steals.

Trotwood-Madison's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Springfield, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
