Preview: Brandon Eagles vs. Plant City Raiders

Brandon and Plant City are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The two teams will face off at 6:30 p.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Brandon has struggled recently with 24 losses in a row, while Plant City will arrive with eight straight victories.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 70-41, which was the final score in Brandon's tilt against Chamberlain on Wednesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Brandon in their matchups with Chamberlain: they've now lost three in a row.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Wayne Milon , who scored ten points. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for him. Tyler Cole was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

Meanwhile, Plant City didn't have too much trouble with Gaither on the road on Wednesday as they won 65-50. Given Plant City's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while Gaither is ranked 474th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Plant City got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gavin Tinsley out in front who scored 18 points along with five blocks. That's the first time this season that Tinsley posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Jamin Andrews, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Brandon's loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-7. As for Plant City, their victory bumped their record up to 8-0.

Brandon was dealt a bruising 78-51 loss at the hands of Plant City in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Brandon, Elijah Dawson (who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
