Basketball Game Preview: Los Lunas Tigers vs. Albuquerque Bulldogs

Los Lunas hasn't had much luck against Albuquerque recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Los Lunas Tigers will take on the Albuquerque Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. One thing working in Los Lunas' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches.

On Thursday, Los Lunas made easy work of West Mesa and carried off a 55-31 victory. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 games by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Albuquerque didn't have too much trouble with West Mesa on Friday as they won 62-43. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Albuquerque's win came from a few key players Los Lunas will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Abby Pavia, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine boards. She has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sarah Garcia, who went 6-for-12 en route to 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists.

Albuquerque was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Los Lunas is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 19 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.6 points over those games. Albuquerque's record now sits at 20-5.

Los Lunas came up short against Albuquerque in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 50-46. Can Los Lunas avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
