Volleyball Game Preview: Hatch Valley Bears vs. Santa Teresa Desert Warriors

Hatch Valley is 0-6 against Santa Teresa since August of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Bears will head out on the road to challenge the Desert Warriors at 7:00 p.m.

Hatch Valley lost 3-0 to Ruidoso on Monday.

While Hatch Valley was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Ruidoso's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-19, 27-25.

Meanwhile, Santa Teresa had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Coyotes.

Santa Teresa walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the first set). The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 23-25, 25-20, 25-17.

Santa Teresa found their leader in sophomore Avery Garcia, who had 12 digs and five assists.

Santa Teresa was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in four consecutive matchups.

Hatch Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Santa Teresa, their victory bumped their record up to 11-4.

Hatch Valley might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Santa Teresa in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
