Basketball Game Preview: St. James Academy Thunder vs. Blue Valley North Mustangs

St. James Academy is 1-9 against Blue Valley North since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The St. James Academy Thunder will host the Blue Valley North Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

St. James Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Maranatha Christian Academy 84-23. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 51-8.

Meanwhile, Blue Valley North earned a 64-57 victory over Bishop Miege on Friday. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Stags are ranked 165th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Blue Valley North has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.2 points per game. As for St. James Academy, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

St. James Academy came up short against Blue Valley North in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 60-49. Can St. James Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
