Softball Recap: Mauldin Mavericks vs. Woodmont Wildcats
Mauldin extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 2-10. They came up short against the Woodmont Wildcats, falling 20-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-3 back in March.
Mauldin saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaycie Santana, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
As for Woodmont, they pushed their record up to 11-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.
On Woodmont's side, Jamie Lee Landrum was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Landrum has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mauldin will host Wade Hampton at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
