Basketball Recap: Clark Fork Comes Up Short

Clark Fork was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 58-27 loss at the hands of the Priest River Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Wampus Cats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while the Spartans are ranked 49th).

Clark Fork lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Mateo Cruz, who posted nine points and six boards.

Priest River's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sawyer Stoudt led the charge by putting up 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Nate Stiffel, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards.

Clark Fork's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Priest River, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.

Clark Fork has already played their next game, a 52-11 victory against Mullan on the 14th. As for Priest River, they will head out to face off against Grangeville at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th.
