Volleyball Recap: Pioneer Comes Up Short

After flying high against Rodriguez last Monday, Pioneer came back down to earth. The Patriots lost 3-0 to the River City Raiders on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in March.

While Pioneer ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-17, 25-22.

Pioneer has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for River City, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Pioneer will square off against rival Sacramento at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, River City is set to face off against their familiar foe Rodriguez at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
