Basketball Game Preview: Maryvale Panthers vs. Camelback Spartans

Maryvale and Camelback are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Maryvale Panthers will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Camelback Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Maryvale has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Maryvale is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Rincon/University 82-79.

Meanwhile, Camelback came into Friday's matchup having lost eight straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Browne, posting a 76-42 win. That 34 point margin sets a new team best for the Spartans this season.

Camelback's win came from a few key players Maryvale will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Aken Logan, who posted 16 points in addition to seven boards and five assists. The contest was his third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jaylin Ideran, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Camelback smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Maryvale has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Camelback, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-11.
