Recap: Southern Rams vs. Mountain Ridge Miners
While the Southern Rams couldn't quite beat the Mountain Ridge Miners on Wednesday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 24-point loss they were dealt last Thursday. Southern fell just short of Mountain Ridge by a score of 50-47. Southern has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Isaiah Keller and Jared Haskiell certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Keller scored 18 points along with seven rebounds, while Haskiell scored 14 points along with two blocks.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mountain Ridge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ian Duncan, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Duncan pulled down eight or more rebounds. Owen McGeady was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Southern bumped their record down to 4-3 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Mountain Ridge, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southern will take on Allegany at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Allegany has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 540 points over their last eight matches. As for Mountain Ridge, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Fort Hill at 7:00 p.m.
