Softball Game Preview: St. Joseph Wildcats vs. Vineland Fighting Clan

The St. Joseph Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Vineland Fighting Clan at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with St. Joseph sitting on five straight wins and Vineland on six.

St. Joseph barely beat Cedar Creek the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 12-2 victory on Wednesday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by seven runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Vineland made sure to put some runs up on the board against Gloucester County Tech last Thursday. The Fighting Clan won by a run and slipped past Gloucester County Tech 10-9. That's two games straight that the Fighting Clan have won by just one run.

Vineland's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for St. Joseph, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.

St. Joseph couldn't quite get it done against Vineland in their previous meeting on April 2nd as they fell 5-2. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
