Softball Game Preview: Carrier Mills-Stonefort Wildcats vs. Crab Orchard Trojans

Carrier Mills-Stonefort hasn't had much luck against Crab Orchard recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wildcats will host the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Carrier Mills-Stonefort proved they can win big on Monday (they won by six) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over Pope County.

Meanwhile, Crab Orchard hadn't done well against Goreville recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Trojans never let the Blackcats get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory.

Not much got past Adri Ortega, who gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks to keep Goreville off the board. Ortega has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Crab Orchard saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kayden Glover, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another was Lexi Odle, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Crab Orchard's win bumped their record up to 20-2. As for Carrier Mills-Stonefort, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-9.

Carrier Mills-Stonefort might still be hurting after the 13-2 defeat they got from Crab Orchard in their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
