League recap: Scotts Valley rises in state rank

Scotts Valley moved up to 395 from 504 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Santa Cruz Coast. The Falcons were able to move up by besting Aragon 28-19.

Santa Cruz lost to North Salinas 49-28 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, San Lorenzo Valley's Isaac Newberry and Patrick Primeau have proven to be a lethal combination. Newberry has thrown for 656 yards this season, while Primeau, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 17 catches for 216 yards. Ashtyn Davis from the Cardinals leads the league in rushing with 276 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Santa Cruz takes on Soquel. JESSE TRUMBULL's team is in fourth place, while the Knights are in second place.

Scotts Valley made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,329 from 7,080. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 28-19 victory over the Dons last week.
