Baseball Recap: Western Albemarle Victorious

Western Albemarle won against Fluvanna County on Tuesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Warriors came out on top against the Goochland Bulldogs by a score of 10-6. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Ryan Schenk looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jay Miller, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Jack Connelly was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Western Albemarle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Western Albemarle now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Goochland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Coincidentally, Western Albemarle and Goochland will both be playing Orange County the next time they take the field. The Warriors will head out to face the Fighting Hornets at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Bulldogs will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
