Volleyball Recap: Athens Drive Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Annie Baublitz and Holden Carroll

Athens Drive was the 3-2 winner over Willow Spring when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Jaguars fell just short of the Storm by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday.

Athens Drive took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 18-25, 23-25, 25-19, 15-5.

Athens Drive's loss came despite strong showings from Holden Carroll and Annie Baublitz. Carroll had 12 digs and one assist, while Baublitz had 12 digs and six assists. Carroll has been hot, having posted 12 or more digs the last five times she's played.

Athens Drive's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Willow Spring, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Athens Drive will host Garner at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Willow Spring, they will take on Felton Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
