The Rocky Mountain Lutheran Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Denver Academy Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Rocky Mountain Lutheran is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Rocky Mountain Lutheran will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Front Range Baptist on Thursday. The Eagles were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Falcons. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won three in a row.

Blake Harris made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Rocky Mountain Lutheran's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-5 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gavin Borchardt, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Abel Alverado was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Rocky Mountain Lutheran always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Mustangs on Thursday. Denver Academy came up short against Dawson School, falling 21-1. The defeat continues a trend for Denver Academy in their meetings with Dawson School: they've now lost eight in a row.
Denver Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josh Ortman, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Denver Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Rocky Mountain Lutheran, their record now sits at 8-5.
Rocky Mountain Lutheran's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's matchup. The Eagles have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Denver Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Rocky Mountain Lutheran continue to outrun the ball?
Rocky Mountain Lutheran was able to grind out a solid victory over Denver Academy in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, winning 12-9. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
