Baseball Game Preview: Jordan Panthers vs. Santiago Cavaliers

The Jordan Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Santiago Cavaliers at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Jordan will be strutting in after a victory while Santiago will be coming in after a defeat.

While Jordan's win against Cabrillo wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Jaguars 3-2. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Jaguars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Julian Lopez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Jordan's success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is 3-1 (and 9-12-1 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Jordan saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Alcala, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Santiago was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Artesia. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cavaliers have suffered since March 21st.

Jordan's victory bumped their record up to 12-13-1. As for Santiago, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.
