The Jackson Center Tigers are taking a road trip to take on the Botkins Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Jackson Center has given up an average of 8.3 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Jackson Center's last matchup with Anna could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Saturday. The Tigers lost 13-0 to the Rockets. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jackson Center saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dane Reese, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base was Reese's first of the season.
Meanwhile, Botkins came into Saturday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Fairlawn a 14-0 shutout on Saturday. The Trojans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Carson Steinke made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Steinke was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Elijah Schuller and Hudson Meyer did most of the damage at the plate: Schuller scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Meyer scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Landon Kuch, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Botkins always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Jackson Center's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Botkins, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-3.
Jackson Center took their victory against Botkins when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-0 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
