On Friday, everything came up roses for Hot Springs against De Queen as the squad secured a 56-7 win. That looming 56-7 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Trojans yet this season.

Sedrick Allen had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 342 yards and six TDs while completing 88.2% of his passes. Allen is crushing it when it comes to passing touchdowns: he's passed for at least three every time he's taken the field this season. Luey Jaime did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 71 receiving yards.
Another reason for the win was Hot Springs' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Lebron Modacure, Khalawry McClinton, and J'Shawn Everette, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in De Queen's side was Colby Holder, who made 12 total tackles.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Magnolia faced off against Camden Fairview on Friday. The Panthers fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 42-40. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Cardinals: they've now lost six in a row.
Hot Springs will need to focus on slowing down John Curry, one of several Magnolia players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 114 yards and four scores on only 12 carries. Curry's longest rush was for an impressive 64 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Magnolia also got a significant boost from Jamaijha Marshall, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 118 yards.
Hot Springs' victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Magnolia, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
The upcoming contest will be a clash of competing strengths. Hot Springs has relied on air attacks this season and has averaged 285.8 passing yards per game. Magnolia, on the other hand, has relied on a stout run game: they average 236.7 rushing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.
Hot Springs was able to grind out a solid win over Magnolia when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 17-10.
