Football Recap: Allen Hite's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fairfax over Granada Hills Charter

The Fairfax Lions came up short against the Granada Hills Charter Highlanders on Friday and fell 35-25. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fairfax's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Allen Hite, who picked up 156 receiving yards and three touchdowns. With that strong performance, Hite is now averaging an impressive 116 receiving yards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Gonzalez, who threw for 247 yards and four TDs on only 17 passes.

It was another big night for Dean Rosales, who rushed for 206 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.0 yards per carry for Granada Hills Charter. What's more, he's the matchup marked his third straight with at least 104. Michael Osuna helped out on the ground, rushing for 92 yards.

Fairfax's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Granada Hills Charter, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Fairfax will head out to face off against Hamilton at 7:30 p.m. on October 3. The game will give the Lions their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Granada Hills Charter, after each having a week off, they and Taft will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. This will also be the Highlanders' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
