Football Recap: Eastern Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against Delphi Community last Friday, Eastern came back down to earth. The Comets were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 21-20 to the Taylor Titans. The Comets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Titans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Eastern's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bentley Hullinger, who picked up 92 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Hullinger has been hot recently, having also posted two or more receiving touchdowns the last three times he's played. Gibson Eagle was another key signal caller, throwing for 142 yards and two touchdowns.

Even if they lost, Eastern's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece.

Javionne Harris continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Taylor, rushing for 154 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.7 yards per carry, and also throwing for 159 yards and one touchdown. That's the most passing yards Harris has posted since back in September of 2024. 84 of Harris' passing yards were hauled in by Keyshawn Galloway.

Having lost for the first time this season, Eastern fell to 3-1. As for Taylor, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 3-1.
