Football Recap: Quitman Bulldogs vs. Izard County Cougars
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Conway Christian, Quitman was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They breezed by the Izard County Cougars at home to the tune of 45-0. The Bulldogs pushed the score to 42-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cougars had no chance of recovering from.
Quitman was led to victory by Jordon Moore-Payne and Devon Boyce. Moore-Payne threw for 192 yards and a touchdown while completing 91.7% of his passes, while Boyce rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown on only six carries. PJ Garrett made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
The win got Quitman back to even at 1-1. As for Izard County, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
Quitman will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against Mineral Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Izard County, they will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on East Poinsett County at 7:00 p.m. on September 27th.
