Basketball Recap: Twentynine Palms Comes Up Short

Twentynine Palms was the 76-58 winner over Palm Desert when they last played one another back in December of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The Wildcats took a blow against the Aztecs on Friday, falling 78-49.

Twentynine Palms' loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hunter Evans, who posted 16 points. Evans continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Grabow, who shot 46% from the field en route to 12 points.

Paul Dreisbach continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Palm Desert, going 5-for-8 on his way to 15 points and six assists. Dreisbach has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Micah Brown also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Twentynine Palms now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Palm Desert, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Twentynine Palms is headed away from home for the first time to challenge Hemet at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Palm Desert, they will head out to take on Redlands at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
