Baseball Game Preview: Kennedy Catholic Lancers vs. Lincoln Lynx

The Kennedy Catholic Lancers will square off against the Lincoln Lynx at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Kennedy Catholic 2.3, Lincoln 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Kennedy Catholic's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Auburn. The victory continues a trend for the Lancers in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won five in a row.

Dante Saladino was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Quinn Bundy looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Liam Rhoads, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jesse LaBella was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Kennedy Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Auburn only posted a batting average of .150.

Lincoln had taken Bishop Blanchet down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. Lincoln fell just short of Bishop Blanchet by a score of 3-2. The Lynx have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Kennedy Catholic, their record is now 5-2.
