Basketball Recap: James Deyoung Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Avant Garde Academy

On Thursday, the Oxbridge Academy ThunderWolves didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Avant Garde Academy Sharks, but they still walked away with a 51-46 victory.

Oxbridge Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was James Deyoung, who posted 11 points and three steals. That's the most steals Deyoung has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Edmyer StJean, who put up 15 points and three steals.

Oxbridge Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Avant Garde Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Sergei Mikhalev, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Nikko Andino, who earned ten points and three blocks.

Oxbridge Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Avant Garde Academy, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-6.
