Softball Recap: St. Joseph Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

St. Joseph had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt Bridgeport Central on Wednesday. The Cadets were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Hilltoppers. The Cadets haven't had any issues with the Hilltoppers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Adyson Magliocco spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Sophia Rodriguez was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was MacKenzie Caouette, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

St. Joseph always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

St. Joseph pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Bridgeport Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Joseph will take on Ludlowe at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Falcons will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Bridgeport Central, they are taking a road trip to challenge Darien at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
