Recap: Winfield Generals vs. Wayne Pioneers
On Tuesday, the Winfield Generals faced the Wayne Pioneers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Winfield suffered a tough 62-40 defeat at the hands of Wayne. Winfield's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Defeat or not, Winfield got some senior leadership from Antonela Johnson who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and Kaitlyn Sayre who scored ten points along with seven rebounds. The match was Johnson's third in a row with at least ten points.
Winfield's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Wayne, their win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0.
Winfield will square off against Gilmer County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wayne, they will be playing at home against Logan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Logan is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
