Basketball Recap: Kaiden Ward Key Part of Team Effort in Jaguars Win + How To Watch

There's no place like home for Overhills, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They walked away with a 61-52 victory over the Cape Fear Colts on Thursday. For the Jaguars, this counts as revenge for the 61-57 win the Colts walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.

Overhills' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaiden Ward, who shot 63% from the field en route to 17 points. Those 17 points gave Ward a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Demelvin Steele, who posted eight points and 12 boards.

The win snapped Overhills' losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-5 record. As for Cape Fear, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Overhills and Cape Fear could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Jaguars will take on Southern Wake Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (357 vs. 85). Meanwhile, Cape Fear (ranked 275th) will meet Douglas Byrd (ranked 78th) at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
