Baseball Game Preview: North Pitt Panthers vs. Havelock Rams

The North Pitt Panthers will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Havelock Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

North Pitt is headed into their home opener looking to turn things around after starting their season on the road. They lost 15-2 to Ayden - Grifton on Wednesday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Meanwhile, Havelock hadn't done well against West Craven recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Rams came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 12-7. The game was the first time the Rams have beaten the Eagles on their field since March 31, 2023.

The team relied heavily on Brady Munson, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Chase Champion was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

North Pitt came out on top in a nail-biter against Havelock when the teams last played back in February of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
