Canutillo extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Jovanni Ortiz. The Eagles came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 56-51 W against the Fabens Wildcats with plenty of help from Ortiz, who shot 53% from the field to rack up 19 points and six rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Canutillo's points.

Canutillo's win bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Fabens, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-9.

Canutillo has already played their next contest, a 57-41 loss against Chapin on the 16th. As for Fabens, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-30 defeat against Ysleta on the 16th.
