Softball Recap: Pittsfield Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Pittsfield strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past the Nute Rams 16-1. Considering the Panthers have won three games by more than 14 runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Alivia Lavigne and Alex Penney made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Lavigne struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Meanwhile, Penney struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season. At the plate, Lavigne went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Penney got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, five runs, and one double. With that strong performance, Penney is now averaging an impressive 2.7 runs per game.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashley Clark, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Addison Babcock was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Pittsfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .543. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Pittsfield pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Nute, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
