Baseball Recap: Sunday's Win Is St. Joseph's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but St. Joseph ultimately got the result they hoped for on Sunday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Ellington Knights 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cadets have posted since April 21st.

Connor Fahey was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Fahey was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May.

In other pitching news, HT Jones looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Jake Failla was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

St. Joseph is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Ellington, they moved to 19-8 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

St. Joseph will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Knights: the pair will be back at it again later today.
