MaxPreps Top 25 high school football rankings

By Stephen Spiewak Oct 20, 2014, 12:00am

Little movement in the rankings heading into huge weekend of big matchups. Southlake Carroll makes it into the Top 25.

There was little movement in the Xcellent 25 National Football Rankings, and only one new team, Southlake Carroll, entered the fray.

It could be the proverbial calm before the storm, as there are numerous matchups this weekend with serious national rankings implications. Highlighting the slate of games is a showdown between rivals DeSoto and Cedar Hill. If DeSoto loses, it could be out of the running to finish No. 1. However, a victory over Cedar Hill would add to its credentials in a major way.

Folsom faces its biggest test of the season thus far, as it hits the road to take on unbeaten Rocklin, which is allowing just over 14 points per game.

Mater Dei, Don Bosco Prep and Arcbishop Rummel all have big games as well.

Bishop Gorman remains No. 1 in the rankings, but is far from a lock to finish the season there, as other teams continue to state their case.
