Baseball Recap: Fairless Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Fairless ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They skirted past the Coventry Comets 6-5. For the Falcons, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory the Comets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2023.

Fairless got a big performance out of Mike Ritterbeck, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI. That's the most RBI Ritterbeck has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Dean, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Fairless and bumps their season record up to 14-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Coventry, their loss was their 12th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-21.

Looking ahead, Fairless will be taking part in a tournament against Martins Ferry at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Coventry, they will square off against Canfield at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Comets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
