Basketball Recap: Basalt Takes a Loss

Basalt was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They took a hard 41-22 fall against the Moffat County Bulldogs. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Longhorns this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 36-26 back in January.

Moffat County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mena Tucker, who went 6 for 15 on her way to 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. Tucker is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last ten games she's played. Caitlyn Adams was another key player, putting up eight points along with 12 boards and five blocks.

Basalt's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Moffat County, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Basalt will venture away from home to square off against Steamboat Springs at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Moffat County, they will square off against Summit at 12:30 p.m. on February 8th.
