Softball Recap: Camarillo Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

The matchup between Camarillo and Buena on Tuesday hardly resembled the 3-0 effort from their previous meeting. Camarillo's pitchers stepped up to hand Buena a 20-0 shutout. Considering the Scorpions have won five games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Alexa Gomez was a standout: she fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ainsley Iskenderian, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Camarillo hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in four consecutive matchups.

Camarillo is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. Buena dropped their record down to 3-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Camarillo will take on Westlake in a tournament on Saturday. As for Buena, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Bonaventure at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
