Flag Football Recap: Murphy Skates Past Citronelle with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Murphy). They claimed a resounding 42-6 win over the Citronelle Wildcats. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won three games by 25 points or more so far this season.

Zoye Jones had a dynamite game, rushing for 207 yards and three TDs on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 96 yards and one touchdown while completing 75% of her passes. Her longest rush was for an impressive 59 yards, which helps to explain her lofty yards per carry total. Lauren Russell was in the mix too, providing Murphy with two scores.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Murphy's defense and their three sacks. Oriana Henderson was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two herself.

Murphy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.3 points on average over those games. As for Citronelle, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Murphy will take on Chickasaw at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Citronelle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
