Basketball Recap: Callaway Comes Up Short

Callaway was the 72-50 winner over Heard County when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Callaway Cavaliers fell 56-45 to the Heard County Braves on Friday. The loss leaves the Cavaliers without a win on the season.

When it comes to explaining why Callaway lost, don't look at Bryceton Sanders. Despite the final result, he went 5 for 10 on his way to 11 points in addition to seven assists and four steals. The dominant performance gave Sanders a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyren Buggs, who posted ten points and four blocks.

Heard County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was TJ Reives out in front who went 6 of 11 on his way to 17 points. Cameron Ogletree was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.

Callaway's record is now 0-6. As for Heard County, they moved to 2-5 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Callaway didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 43-40 defeat against Lithia Springs on the 21st. As for Heard County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 53-42 win against LaGrange on the 21st.
