            Baseball Recap: Hobart Bearcats vs. Hinton Comets        
        
		
        
        
            Hobart extended their losing streak  to four  on Monday, dropping their season record down to 2-14 in the process. They came up short against  the Hinton Comets, falling  9-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Comets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  15-5  last Tuesday.
As for Hinton, the  win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-16. The  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 9.3 runs over those games.
For Hinton's part,  Mason Calk and  Randen House were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing,  Calk   pitched 1.1 innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. Meanwhile,  House   struck out seven batters over  3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off   two  hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in three consecutive appearances. At bat,  Calk  went a perfect 2-for-2 with one  double and one  RBI, while  House  went 3-for-4 with five  RBI, two  runs,  and one  triple. House is becoming a predictor of Hinton's success: when he posts  at  least two  runs the team is undefeated (and 7-16 when he doesn't).
 In other batting news,  Jacob Bonnewell was  excellent,  going 3-for-4 with three  RBI and one  run. That's the most  RBI  he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of  Wyatt Stefler, who  went a perfect 2-for-2 with three  runs.
 Hobart does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hinton, they will head out on the road to  take on  Merritt  at 1:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
