Baseball Recap: Mechanicsburg Gets the Win

Mechanicsburg won the last time they faced Triad and things went their way on Monday too. The Indians walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Cardinals. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Indians.

Conner Eyink made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 16 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Those 16 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Matthew Davis was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Colton Walborn, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Mechanicsburg's record is now 9-2. As for Triad, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-11-1.

Mechanicsburg will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cardinals: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
