Basketball Recap: Paradise Honors Piles Up the Points Against Desert Sunrise

Paradise Honors's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They breezed by the Desert Sunrise Golden Hawks to the tune of 65-10. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Golden Hawks are ranked 99th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Paradise Honors to victory, but perhaps none more so than Morgan Van Dyke, who went 8 of 11 on her way to 17 points and six steals. Van Dyke is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaelyn Perez, who went 6 of 8 on her way to 13 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Paradise Honors smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Paradise Honors' win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Desert Sunrise, they moved to 3-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Paradise Honors didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-11 victory against Casa Grande on the 30th. As for Desert Sunrise, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 51-16 win against Cactus on the 5th.
