Basketball Game Preview: Decatur Golden Gators vs. Bellarmine Prep Lions

The Decatur Golden Gators will venture away from home to challenge the Bellarmine Prep Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bellarmine Prep took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Decatur, who comes in off a win.

Decatur is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Kentlake: they outscored them in every quarter. Everything went Decatur's way against Kentlake on Friday as Decatur made off with a 59-38 victory. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Golden Gators had established a 20 point advantage.

Decatur's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jeralynn Sevaaetasi, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 19 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Sevaaetasi a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (60%). Jayda Thomas was another key player, going 10 for 21 to rack up 25 points.

Meanwhile, Bellarmine Prep suffered their biggest defeat since January 20th on Saturday. They were beaten by North Thurston 77-49.

Bellarmine Prep's loss dropped their record down to 18-6. As for Decatur, their win bumped their record up to 8-12.

Decatur came up short against Bellarmine Prep in their previous matchup back in February of 2020, falling 52-41. Can Decatur avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
