Softball Recap: Wellington Now 9-1 over Last Ten Games

Wellington took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Northridge, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles never let the Grizzlies get on the board and left with a 2-0 win on Thursday.

The result came thanks to Taylor Morgan's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Camryn Strain, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

Wellington has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Northridge, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.

Coincidentally, Wellington and Northridge will both be playing Mountain View the next time they take the field. The Grizzlies will host the Mountain Lions at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Eagles will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
