Softball Recap: Randolph Takes a Loss

Randolph dropped their record down to 10-10 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 13-1 to the Chautauqua Lake Eagles. The matchup marked the Cardinals' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

As for Chautauqua Lake, they pushed their record up to 15-3 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games.

For Chautauqua Lake's part, Cayzlee Johnson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Johnson has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kinslee Motter, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Karagan Fairbank, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Randolph does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chautauqua Lake, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Barker on the 30th.
