Football Game Preview: Bound Brook Crusaders vs. Manville Mustangs

Bound Brook is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Manville is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Crusaders will host the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Bound Brook is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 38 points last Friday, they were much more limited against New Providence on Friday. They had to suffer through a 49-3 loss at the hands of the Pioneers. The game marked the Crusaders' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Manville was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They blew past Highland Park 48-14. Considering the Mustangs have won seven matchups by more than 28 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Manville's win came from a few key players Bound Brook will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Josh D'Ambrosio, who threw for 184 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes, and also rushed for 75 yards and one score. Isaiah Bennett was another key player, gaining 149 total yards and three touchdowns.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Manville's defense and their three sacks. Levan Chankotadze was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. Manville received some extra help from Bennett, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Manville's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Bound Brook, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

Bound Brook was taken down by Manville 42-3 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Crusaders, Naquavere Thomas (who rushed for 136 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.2 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
