Basketball Recap: Ribault Comes Up Short

Ribault fought the good fight in their overtime match against University Christian on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to the University Christian Christians. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Christians apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2021.

When it comes to explaining why Ribault lost, don't look at Jamian Jackson. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 17 en route to 17 points. The game was Jackson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Kaden Toure was another key player, putting up ten points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Ribault smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive contests.

Adalbert Allotey was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on 12 points, ten rebounds, and nine blocks for University Christian. Allotey has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 17 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Arthur, who posted six points and 13 rebounds.

With the loss, Ribault broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-6. As for University Christian, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 15-8.

Ribault didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 85-42 victory against ED White on the 30th. University Christian has also already played their next game, a 60-52 win against Sandalwood on the 28th.
