Football Game Preview: Mt. Carmel Sundevils vs. San Pasqual Golden Eagles + Official Tickets

Two dominant signal callers in Trevor Taumoepeau and Robert Renteria are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Mt. Carmel Sundevils will be playing in front of their home fans against the San Pasqual Golden Eagles at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Mt. Carmel is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to Escondido for the full four quarters, racking up a 58-21 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-8.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when San Pasqual and Valley Center meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Golden Eagles blew past the Jaguars, posting a 49-7 win. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won five matchups by 26 points or more so far this season.

Mt. Carmel better focus on containing Jordan Simmons and Cooper Marquez as the pair were huge in San Pasqual's win. Simmons gained 117 total yards and two touchdowns, while Marquez gained 143 total yards and a touchdown.

San Pasqual didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Valley Center to a completion percentage of just 50%. The Golden Eagles have been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.64 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.64 in their last three games.

San Pasqual has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.5 points over those games. As for Mt. Carmel, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-5.

Mt. Carmel took their victory against San Pasqual when the teams last played back in September of 2015 by a conclusive 42-21 score. In that contest, the Sundevils amassed a halftime lead of 35-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
